Monica Cameroni De Adams, a 65-year-old woman experiencing homelessness, was severely injured when a drunk driver crashed into her minivan in San Diego. Despite being alive in the vehicle after the crash, police failed to locate her, and her body was discovered weeks later wedged in her van. A legal claim has been filed for $50 million against the police for their inadequate investigation, emphasizing that homelessness does not negate familial love and concern for the individual.
"Just because someone is homeless doesn't mean that they don't have a family that loves them," attorney John Carpenter, who represents De Adams' family, told KFMB-TV.
The claim states that officers failed to fully investigate the crash site, not noticing Cameroni De Adams, who was trapped inside her van, alive.
An autopsy report detailed that the body of Cameroni De Adams was discovered wedged under miscellaneous items in her vehicle's middle row, badly decomposed.
The San Diego Police Department has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the investigation following the tragic incident involving Monica Cameroni De Adams.
