On March 18, a father in New Jersey, Moshe Ehrlich, tragically left his 4-month-old son in a hot mini-van for two hours while he attended yeshiva. Forgetting the child's milk, he made multiple stops with his other children before reaching the yeshiva and parking the vehicle in direct sunlight. Despite attempts by the child's mother and babysitter to contact him, it was too late. Upon discovering the unresponsive infant, first responders pronounced him dead at the hospital. Ehrlich was arrested and charged with child endangerment but released shortly after.
Ehrlich decided to drop the other three children off before heading back to his Lakewood home for the baby's milk—neglecting the infant in the sweltering car.
After arriving at the yeshiva, temperatures inside the van escalated to 96 degrees, leading to the tragic death of the four-month-old baby.
