On a Monday evening, a 12-year-old boy was fatally struck by a pickup truck driven by an 18-year-old in Flower Hill, Long Island. The boy, who ran outside of a crosswalk, was hit at approximately 6:38 p.m. and was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The pickup truck driver remained on the scene and authorities are conducting an investigation. This incident follows another recent fatality involving a motorcyclist in a road-rage incident nearby, pointing to serious traffic safety concerns in the area.
A 12-year-old boy crossing by a hectic Long Island intersection was fatally struck by a young driver in a pickup truck during evening rush hour Monday, police said.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, ran outside of a crosswalk on Middle Neck Road near the intersection of Northern Boulevard about 6:38 p.m.
Several weeks ago, in nearby New Hyde Park, a motorcyclist involved in a road-rage incident on the Long Island Expressway service road was also fatally struck by a pickup truck.
The driver remained at the scene, and police said they are still investigating the crash.
