The New Pornographers have unveiled their new digital single "Ballad of the Last Payphone," the A-side to their vinyl-only single "Ego Death for Beginners." The song pays tribute to the last payphone in New York City and is inspired by Raymond Carver's story "Fat." Band member A.C. Newman explained that the song captures the narrator's fascination with the payphone, which is located in the Museum of the City of New York.
