Kneecap, a Northern Irish hip-hop group, sparked controversy at Coachella for their outspoken criticism of Israel's actions in Gaza. During their performances, they projected messages condemning Israel and highlighting U.S. complicity. However, these messages appeared to be omitted from the festival's official livestream. The band's claims of censorship coincide with a reported chant celebrating the death of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, which was also left out. Other artists at Coachella, like Green Day and Blonde Redhead, also took stands against Israeli actions, suggesting a broader solidarity within the music community.
Representatives for Goldenvoice, the fest's promoter, did not immediately return a request for comment.
During its first weekend set, the band reportedly led a boisterous chant celebrating the 2013 death of former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, which they said was cut from the livestream as well.
