Maya Hawke announces new album & tour dates, shares "Devil You Know"
"'Devil You Know' is about trying to keep ambition and greed out of the creative process. This album generally is about learning to protect the precious from the poisonous. Protect creation from pride. Protect love from control. Protect collaboration from jealousy."
Maya Hawke announces her new album Maitreya Corso, releasing May 1 via Mom + Pop Music. The album was created with longtime collaborators including her husband Christian Lee Hutson, Benjamin Lazar Davis, and producer Jonathan Low. The lead single 'Devil You Know' is a slow jam featuring heavy vocoder production. Hawke describes the album's central theme as learning to protect precious elements from poisonous influences—specifically protecting creation from pride, love from control, and collaboration from jealousy. She and Hutson will perform together at the Tibet House benefit at Carnegie Hall. Spring tour dates include performances in Brooklyn, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, Washington DC, and Boston, with an album release show at Bowery Ballroom on May 2.
