Carol Bove’s work is on view at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum through Aug. 2, spread across the spiral rotunda. The installation includes a library of materials from the artist’s studio that visitors can handle and an artist-made chess table where visitors can play. The exhibition emphasizes experiments with materials, color, surface, scale, and space. At MoMA, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera are featured through Sept. 12 in Frida and Diego: The Last Dream, presented with a detailed setting designed by Jon Bausor. The New Museum’s public plaza will host Sarah Lucas’ VENUS VICTORIA starting May 12, celebrating women claiming space in public life for two years.
"From now until Aug. 2, Carol Bove's artwork is on display at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Spread out across the Guggenheim's spiral rotunda, Bove's work has become an intricately active part of the artwork's setting, from a library filled with materials from the artist's personal studio that guests can handle directly to an artist-made chess table where guests are welcome to start a game. Each work reflects her creative experiments with materials, colors, surface, scale and space."
"Two of Mexico's most cherished artists' works, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, are currently on display at the Museum of Modern Art until Sept. 12. Frida and Diego: The Last Dream, in conjunction with The Metropolitan Opera's El Ultimo Sueno de Frida y Diego, tells the story of these artists' lives and artworks. MoMA's Frida and Diego: The Last Dream features the artworks in a detailed setting designed by Jon Bausor, the set and co-costume designer of El Ultimo Sueno de Frida y Diego."
"Sarah Lucas' VENUS VICTORIA sculpture will be the inaugural artwork for the New Museum's public plaza since the museum's reopening in March. Lucas was selected by an all-artist jury, and VENUS VICTORIA celebrates women claiming space in public life. The sculpture will be on display starting May 12 in a new outdoor plaza located on Bowery, at Prince St. VENUS VICTORIA will be on display for two years."
