Six Restaurant Closings in New York City This Month

Astoria: Trattoria L'incontro, a 25-year-old Italian restaurant, will close this week ahead of a move to the Upper East Side. Owner Rocco Sacramone tells the Astoria Post that he has always wanted to operate a business in Manhattan, but says it would have been too difficult to run two restaurants.
East Village: Yakiniku West, a Japanese steakhouse known for its wagyu beef, has closed, according to EV Grieve. 218 E. Ninth Street, between Second and Third avenues.
East Village: Longtime Ukrainian restaurant in a chiropractic office basement, Streecha has closed; it was an extension of St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church, with the restaurant run by volunteers.
Lower East Side: Canary Club, a restaurant inspired by New Orleans, closed on April 27, according to a note on its website. The space is being taken over by Douglas, Gray, and Nicolas Ballinger, owners of Early Terrible in Woodstock, New York.
