Cafe Hunan, a Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded restaurant from Hong Kong, has opened its first U.S. branch named Professor Chan's Hunan in Long Island City, New York. Founded by physicist Guanhua Chan in 2012, the restaurant has expanded significantly since then, establishing six locations in China. The New York branch aims to share authentic Hunan-style stir-fries with a focus on freshness and spice. Director Chi Zhang, experienced in Asian cuisine, leads the U.S. expansion efforts, planning further growth into Manhattan and beyond.
"We want to bring freshness, uniqueness, and real Hunanese spicy levels to the U.S. market," says Chi Zhang, emphasizing the restaurant's mission.
Guanhua Chan opened Cafe Hunan in response to the lack of good Hunan restaurants near Hong Kong University, turning a personal need into a successful venture.
