Owner Joe Carroll reported that the fire, which appears to have been electrical and started in the basement, left the restaurant's dining room untouched. Despite the damage, there were no injuries.
Carroll expressed some uncertainty regarding the damage, stating, "Maybe some things are salvageable, we just don't know yet" about the basement's reconstruction, including wine refrigeration units.
Despite acknowledging the challenges ahead, Carroll remains hopeful, noting, "It will be a headache, but I feel confident St. Anselm will reopen at the address."
His best guess is that the restaurant will remain closed for at least a couple of months, but insurance will cover normal operating expenses to continue paying employees.
