Exclusive | NYC bars, delis dealing with sky-high corned beef prices ahead of St. Patrick's Day
Briefly

Corned beef prices have risen significantly in New York, with the cost of brisket increasing by 8.7% over the past year. Some suppliers, like Mosey's Corned Beef, have ceased operations due to unsustainable pricing. Deli owners and pub managers noted a general rise in food prices, attributed to inflation and compounded by issues like the pandemic and agriculture crises. With St. Patrick's Day approaching, consumers are facing higher costs for traditional meals such as corned beef and cabbage.
These guys couldn't hack it because of the pricing, said Joe DiGangi, owner of Queens' Mario's Meats and Deli, of his former vendor Mosey's Corned Beef.
The price of everything has risen slowly after COVID - it went up, and it didn't go back down, lamented Joe DiGangi.
Beef is on par with everything else, there's been significant increases in the cost of all produce over the past year, stated Ardell Reilly, Connolly's Pub general manager.
Uncooked beef roasts, including corned beef, are at an all-time high this year ahead of St. Patrick's Day.
