On March 10, a pop-up food pantry event took place in Sunset Park, aiming to support families grappling with increasing food prices. City Councilmember Susan Zhuang emphasized that ongoing inflation forces families to choose between essential needs. The initiative, supported by local organizations, highlighted community resilience, bringing together individuals from various cultural backgrounds under a common purpose of compassion and assistance, ensuring no one in the community goes hungry.
With inflation continuing to drive up the prices of everyday essentials, too many families in our community are being forced to make difficult choices between putting food on the table and paying for other necessities.
This event also showcased the strength of our diverse community. People from different cultures and backgrounds came together-united by a shared commitment to helping one another.
