Chef Kwame Onwuachi Explains Why He's Returning to DC
Briefly

I spent a lot of time in DC in my professional career, and prior to that, it has always been a second home to me. My grandfather taught at Howard University. I spent my summers in DC. A lot of my family lives in DC. So for me it's definitely like another homecoming. Coming back and creating another restaurant is important to me.
We're still fine-tuning, still getting everything together. It's a really tight menu. It's unlike anything I think DC has seen.
I didn't get into it for takeout. I got into it to create experiences for people. Now I want to continue to do that, and DC is a natural next step.
I have checked out a couple of new restaurants, like Causa. But when I'm in DC, I'm going to El Rinconcito, I'm going to Los Hermanos, I'm going to Asian American II to get chicken wings.
