The chaos began the moment I pulled into the parking lot, where scrappy old RVs and U-Haul trucks clogged up the already congested rows of parked cars. We forded the stream of carts exiting the store and scanned our membership card. The store was packed with people.
Costco was clearly prepared for Burning Man - it had devoted the entire back corner of the warehouse to store pallets and pallets of bottled water. The samples were perfect desert munchies - pesto tortellini, tortilla chips, electrolyte-infused water.
