Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds demand their texts with celebrities be hidden over fears Justin Baldoni will leak them to press: 'Chance of irreparable harm'
Briefly

A legal dispute involving Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds against Justin Baldoni escalated in a Manhattan court, as Lively’s attorney sought to protect their texts with celebrities by labeling them under an "Attorney's Eyes Only" category. The attorney cited potential irreparable harm from leaked comments, highlighting the PR motives behind potential leaks. Baldoni’s lawyer dismissed the request as unnecessary and offensive, arguing it unfairly favored celebrities over others. Lively alleges $250 million in damages for sexual harassment, while Baldoni counters with a $400 million countersuit for defamation. A trial is set for March 2026.
"There is a significant chance of irreparable harm if marginal conversations with high profile individuals with no relevance to the case were to fall into wrong hands," Sigrid McCawley claimed at a hearing in Manhattan federal court Thursday.
"There are 100 million reasons for these parties to leak information because the PR value is greater than complying with the court's orders," the attorney added.
"It’s offensive that anyone would suggest that we would disregard a protective order," Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman responded.
"Lively and Reynolds' plan would unjustly treat 'celebrity people,' and 'people who are powerful in the industry,' differently from other people."
