Tracy Chapman took the stage at the 2024 Grammy Awards tonight to perform her hit 'Fast Car' with help from Luke Combs, whose cover last year helped propell her song back to the top of the charts.
When Combs' rendition of 'Fast Car' topped the Country Airplay chart, it made Chapman the first Black woman to earn a No. 1 with a solo composition on the country charts. She also became the first Black woman to ever win a Country Music Association Award, taking home the Song of the Year trophy for 'Fast Car' at the November 2023 awards thanks to his cover.
