"There's something so powerful about that period of music, from the messaging to the visuals, it's authentic and raw. I've listened to that stuff since I was a kid."
"Violet Grohl released her debut singles, 'THUM' and 'Applefish,' at the end of 2025, and she's now announced her debut album. Be Sweet To Me is due out May 29 via Aurora Records/Republic. She recorded it with producer Justin Raisen and was influenced by late '80s and early '90s alt-rock."
Violet Grohl, daughter of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, announced her debut album 'Be Sweet To Me,' arriving May 29 via Aurora Records/Republic. Recorded with producer Justin Raisen, the album draws inspiration from late '80s and early '90s alt-rock including Pixies, Soundgarden, Cocteau Twins, The Breeders, PJ Harvey, The Muffs, Björk, Alice in Chains, L7, and Juliana Hatfield. Grohl cites the period's powerful messaging, visuals, and authentic rawness as influences she's appreciated since childhood. The album features previously released singles 'THUM' and 'Applefish,' plus new single '595,' inspired by vintage phone sex line merchandise. Grohl has scheduled performances at Shaky Knees and Pukkelpop festivals.
