Stuck announce new album & tour, share "Instakill"
""Reeling with financial stress and a deep sense of precarity with my career, I was desperate for answers. This led me down a deep hole of online self-help huckster gurus. Charitably, I think that many of these people mean well and a few genuinely have good advice. But even the best of them are trying to prey on your insecurities and circumstances in order to sell you a course or a health supplement, which I think is both dark and funny.""
"Chicago post-punk trio Stuck have announced their third album, Optimizer, which will be out March 27 via Exploding in Sound. They recorded the album at their hometown's Electrical Audio studios with producer Andrew Oswald (Marble Eyed, Powerplant). The first single from the album is the tightly-wound "Instakill" which takes aim at ads on social media. The video for "Instakill" takes these themes even further and you can watch that below."
Chicago post-punk trio Stuck will release their third album Optimizer on March 27 via Exploding in Sound. The band recorded at Electrical Audio with producer Andrew Oswald. The lead single "Instakill" targets social media ads and the culture of online self-help gurus. Singer-guitarist Greg Obis describes financial stress and career precarity that led him into self-help circles and to criticize their tendency to prey on insecurities to sell courses and supplements. The album probes the futility of relentless self-optimization. A video for "Instakill" extends these themes. Stuck will tour in April with listed North American dates.
