Brazilian judge Victor Torres has ordered a worldwide ban on Adele's song "Million Years Ago" due to allegations of plagiarism involving the samba classic "Mulheres." The lawsuit, initiated by Brazilian composer Toninho Geraes in 2021, alleges that Adele lifted elements from his song. The ruling threatens Adele's record labels with fines for any non-compliance and requires immediate cessation of all uses, including streaming and editing.
Attorney Fredimio Trotta, representing Geraes, criticizes what he calls the "parasitic use" of Brazilian music. He mentions that the aim of their legal action is to prevent Adele's song from being accessed worldwide through any platform, emphasizing a strong stand against unauthorized usage of their artistic work.
