West End Girl is a 14-track studio album recorded in 16 days with regular collaborator Blue May. The album draws on Allen's mental health journey, experiences with fame, recent theatre projects, and her 2024 divorce from actor David Harbour. Allen recorded the project in December 2024 as a way to process life events and subsequently checked into a residential facility for mental-health care. West End Girl is Allen's first studio release since 2018's No Shame. In recent years Allen has headlined stage shows, won a Laurence Olivier Award, launched a podcast, and supplemented income via OnlyFans.
