Samsung's upcoming Brain Health feature detects early signs of dementia
"At CES next month, where it's holding a product launch in its own standalone exhibition space, Samsung is now rumored to be demonstrating a new Brain Health feature that detects early signs of dementia. This will work by analyzing various metrics, and will join Samsung's many other preventative healthcare features, which include blood pressure monitoring, ECG, and irregular heart rhythm notifications."
"The new Brain Health feature will use data collected by Samsung smartphones and smartwatches, including gait patterns, changes in a user's voice, and sleep status. Based on analysis of this data, it will identify cognitive decline and early signs of dementia. If it does, then it will provide guidance on preventative measures (which, it would seem, would be too late) as well as a customized "brain training" program to help improve cognitive abilities (if it works)."
Samsung plans a Brain Health feature to detect early dementia signs by analyzing gait patterns, voice changes, and sleep status from smartphones and smartwatches. The feature will join existing preventative health capabilities such as blood pressure monitoring, ECG, and irregular heart rhythm notifications. Based on analysis of collected metrics, the system will identify cognitive decline and early dementia indicators, then offer guidance on preventative measures and a customized "brain training" program to improve cognitive abilities. The feature was developed in-house and is undergoing clinical validation trials with medical institutions. The consumer release date remains unclear.
