Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in 'Euphoria,' has opened up about her extensive training and transformation to portray boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming film. In preparation, Sweeney underwent three and a half months of intense training, which included weight training and kickboxing, resulting in significant physical changes. Martin, a trailblazer in female boxing, had a tumultuous life with an abusive ex-husband and achieved great success in the sport, inspiring Sweeney to deeply commit to the role. This portrayal aims to honor Martin's legacy and the challenges she faced.
Sweeney said, 'I came onboard to play Christy, and I had about three and a half months of training. I started eating, I weight-trained in the morning for an hour, kick-boxed midday for about two hours and then weight-trained again at night for an hour.'
She explained the physical changes by stating, 'I didn't fit in any of my clothes. I'm usually a size 23 in jeans, and I was wearing a size 27. My boobs got bigger. And my butt got huge. It was crazy! I was like, 'Oh my god.' But it was amazing: I was so strong, like crazy strong.'
