Sakamoto Days puts a refreshing twist on double-life hijinks
Briefly

Sakamoto Days initially follows the familiar trope of a retired hitman leading a double life, hiding his dangerous past from his loving wife Aoi. However, midway through the fifth episode, the narrative takes a significant turn when Aoi discovers the threat on Sakamoto's life and expresses her frustration about his secrecy. This unexpected shift not only empowers Aoi's character but deepens the story by introducing conflict and emotional stakes, making the series more engaging than initially anticipated.
I was pleasantly entertained by the secret double-life hijinks, though not necessarily on the edge of my seat.
Early into the fifth episode, Aoi finds out that there's a bounty on Sakamoto's head - and she's pissed that he didn't let her know.
For about five episodes, he goes out of his way to hide the danger from Aoi.
Being unfamiliar with the manga, I was pleasantly surprised to see Aoi get to do this.
