Paramount+ to release Ilia Topuria documentary prior to UFC White House card
A documentary titled “Topuria Matador” will release on Paramount+ on June 1. The film focuses on major moments in Ilia Topuria’s fighting career, starting with his bout against Josh Emmett, only his second pro fight to go the distance. After defeating Emmett, Topuria earned a featherweight title shot and later knocked out Alexander Volkanovski. The documentary also covers Topuria’s early life, including his birth in Germany to Georgian parents, time in Georgia with his family, and later relocation to Spain for training. It includes training details, weight cuts, coaching input, and perspectives from opponents. Topuria remains undefeated and holds UFC championships across two divisions.
"Born in Germany to Georgian parents, his family including brother Aleksandre Topuria relocated to Georgia for some time before moving on to Spain, where they live and train now. The documentary will show some of the grizzly details of the fighting process, including his hard training sessions, his brutal weight cut and plenty of other detail from his coaches. It will also bring in some of Topuria's opponents to discuss what he brought to the table when facing them."
