The site also needs substantial environmental cleanup, which could delay any potential move, leaving many small business owners uncertain about their future.
"Initial indications from the Housing and Community Development Department indicate it is not inclined to exempt the site," Nanci Klein stated, underscoring the challenges ahead.
"So it could leave our vendors high and dry for a while during the time in which we're remediating that site or exploring other solutions," said District 5 Councilmember Peter Ortiz.
