First conceived for Yerba Buena Gardens Festival's 20th Anniversary celebration in 2020, the YBG Festival Seed Commissions program shifted to support Bay Area artists during the pandemic, recognizing over 60 creatives.
Now in its 4th year, the program employs an artist-centered selection process where artists from prior cohorts nominate talents for the upcoming round, fostering a supportive and collaborative artistic community.
The YBGF Seed Festival showcases local artists like Alleluia Panis, Mahealani Uchiyama, Esotérica Tropical, Rocky Rivera, Lalin St. Juste, and RyanNicole, promoting varied forms of expression including music, dance, spoken word, and storytelling.
The Festival aims to plant seeds for the future generation of artists by creating opportunities for collaboration and conversation, nurturing a diverse and thriving artistic ecosystem.
