
A driver struck four pedestrians in San Francisco’s Mission District near 16th and Mission streets early Monday morning. Officers responded at 12:13 a.m. and found one pedestrian with life-threatening injuries being treated by medics. The pedestrian later died at a nearby hospital, while three other pedestrians suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was detained soon after the collision, and the San Francisco Police Department arrested the suspect. The department had not announced what charges would be filed. The incident marked the ninth pedestrian death in San Francisco so far this year and the second such death in the Mission, following the death of local musician Danielle Spillman in April. People with information were directed to contact SFPD by phone or text tip line.
