The establishment of a pop-up law enforcement triage center at Sixth Street has led to a noticeable decrease in activity in the notorious open-air drug market nearby. Local service workers distributed hot meals, refreshments, and provided support to passersby, while individuals sought shelter due to inclement weather. Many locals expressed curiosity about the initiative and inquired about available services. Personal stories, like that of Trenton Cappell, illustrated the potential for recovery and community support in overcoming hardships associated with addiction.
"Curiosity was the main reaction of people checking out the newly fenced off area," said worker Tabari Morris, highlighting the interest from locals in the new initiative.
"We’re policing people, offering services, and sending people home," explained Trenton Cappell, revealing the multifaceted approach of the triage center.
