Bay Area man kills home intruder in suburban neighborhood, police say

Around 4:45 a.m. Saturday, the Martinez Police Department was dispatched to Hale Court in a quiet suburban housing development off Alhambra Ave... When officers arrived, they found a man with injuries; he was transported to a hospital where he later died.
According to the home's resident, the man broke into the home and attacked him. As they fought, the intruder incurred major injuries, the resident said.
Martinez police did not disclose why the man allegedly broke into the Hale Court home. They cautioned that they didn't yet know the full circumstances of the alleged break-in.
