Alexis Yannei Bonilla-Falla was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 28-year-old Alexis Pulido Garcia, which took place during a failed robbery in January 2020. The two had arranged to purchase marijuana but the meeting escalated into a carjacking, resulting in Garcia being shot in the neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene, marking East Palo Alto's first homicide of that year. Following a year-long investigation, Bonilla-Falla and her alleged accomplice, Anthony Alcantara Medina, were arrested. Medina's trial is set for later this year.
