Would-be Sunnyvale jewelry store robbery thwarted by armed guards

Robbers intentionally crashed a stolen vehicle around 3 p.m. Friday into a jewelry store in the 1000 block of E. El Camino Real, attempting to forcibly enter the shop and make away with valuable jewelry.
The store's armed guards reportedly confronted and chased off the unknown suspects, who then fled in another stolen vehicle, according to police.
Police said the robbers did not rob the store of anything, and that no jewels or cash were taken, no shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
Police later found the stolen getaway vehicle unoccupied somewhere in Sunnyvale.
