Woman who waited five years for scoliosis surgery as a child now can't have hip operation as it's 'too late'

Ivy was born with neuromuscular scoliosis, cerebral palsy, and hip dysplasia, impacting her ability to breathe and leading to significant health challenges throughout her young life.

Ivy's failure to receive timely spinal fusion surgery from 2016 until January 2021 resulted in major deterioration of her condition, affecting her physical and mental health.

Following her spinal surgery, Ivy was informed that her hip surgery became problematic, leading her and her family to feel devastated but still committed to advocating for better access to timely care.

The breakdown of trust between Children's Health Ireland and advocacy groups is concerning, particularly in light of recent revelations about unauthorized surgical practices and financial mismanagement.
