Woman (80s) dead and another woman injured after crash between SUV and truck in Co Roscommon
"The accident happened on the N5, near Scramogue, shortly after 5pm this evening. The woman who was travelling as a passenger in the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body was removed to the morgue where a post-mortem examination will be arranged. The driver of the SUV, a woman in her 70s, was transferred by air ambulance to University Hospital Galway for treatment of serious injuries."
"No other injuries were reported. It is understood the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions. The road is closed and expected to remain so until tomorrow pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Local Councillor Sean Moylan described the incident as a "horrendous tragedy"."
