Her husband Brian, 62, was also stabbed and remains in a serious but stable condition at Cork University Hospital following emergency surgery. Gardaí arrested a 25-year-old man known to the couple at the scene after armed officers disarmed him on a green area about 20 metres from the house. A blood-stained kitchen knife was recovered. Neighbours raised the alarm after hearing shouting and calls for assistance and emergency services attended. The arrested man can be held for up to 24 hours.
