Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve has been recognized for its outstanding amenities, guest experiences, and commitment to conservation, winning Large Park of the Year and Plan-It Green Park of the Year awards.
Cory Kading, the park director, highlighted the serene atmosphere even during peak times, stating, 'You’d be amazed at how quiet it gets,' reflecting the park’s tranquil environment despite hosting 160,000 visitors annually.
Kading noted the park's unique offerings, including larger camping sites, 290 RV spots, and the opportunity for guests to fish from their porch in lakes stocked regularly with trout and catfish.
The park attracts wildlife, with pelicans arriving just before fish stocking days, showcasing the harmonization between nature and recreational activities, making it a popular destination for fishing and outdoor fun.
