The EU aims to track nearly one billion passengers annually, yet thousands of airports need to be equipped for biometric data collection, presenting a significant challenge.
"Some of the major airports have all the equipment in and ready to roll, but I don't think it's ready everywhere," Öberg mentions regarding readiness.
