Bending Spoons acquired Vimeo for $1.38 billion months ago. Vimeo is laying off employees around the globe following the acquisition, though the total number affected remains unclear. Former brand VP Dave Brown said "a large portion of the company" was impacted. Former employees reported "almost everyone" was laid off, "including the entire video team," and one engineer said he and "a gigantic amount of the company" were let go. Israeli outlet CTech reported Vimeo is cutting "most" employees in the country. These cuts follow a September round that removed 10 percent of staff one week before the acquisition announcement. The layoffs raise concerns about impacts to hosted content like Dropout comedy shows. Bending Spoons previously reduced staff at acquisitions including WeTransfer, Filmic, and Evernote.
