Dawn Mangum successfully filed a warranty deed for North Carolina resident Craig Adams’ multimillion-dollar home, claiming she believed it was abandoned and in foreclosure.
Craig Adams initially learned of the fraudulent deed when contacted by his homeowners association about an inquiry from Mangum for gate access to the gated community.
Despite having been charged and pleading not guilty, Mangum insisted that her actions were lawful, claiming she believed she could claim abandoned property.
Adams stated that a mistake on an online listing led to the misconception of foreclosure, which Mangum later used to justify her actions.
