Following a ceasefire, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have begun to return to northern Gaza, primarily from Khan Younis, where they had fled 15 months ago due to Israeli military operations against Hamas. Despite the extensive destruction and challenging conditions, approximately 200,000 people, as reported by the UN, made their way back, many traveling for days by foot or in strained vehicles. Scenes of joy mingled with sadness as families arrived back in their neighborhoods, eager to start the long process of rebuilding their lives.

Taking advantage of a ceasefire, Palestinians from Khan Younis began returning to areas devastated by Israeli offensives against Hamas.
With around 200,000 people reported by the UN, families traveled days under harsh conditions to reach their northern homes amid destruction.
Scenes of joy welcomed these returning families in the north of the enclave, despite the challenges ahead after a long absence.
