The United States is imposing stringent export restrictions on 140 companies linked to China's semiconductor industry, aiming to curb military-related chip production and enhance national security.
These new measures include restrictions on high-bandwidth memory chips crucial for AI applications, as well as additional restrictions on various chip manufacturing tools and software.
As part of the initiative, the package will impose limitations on exports from non-U.S. nations, including Singapore and Malaysia, affecting both U.S. and international semiconductor companies.
The restrictions come amid concerns about Chinese companies colluding with Huawei Technologies, leading to heightened scrutiny and the entities being placed on a special license requirement list.
