UN Plaza Skatepark Getting Expanded Next Month, Converse-Sponsored Event Planned
Briefly

The UN Plaza skatepark in San Francisco is set for a significant upgrade with an additional 2,100 square feet of skateable area, designed notably by Olympic skateboarder and MIT-trained architect Alexis Sablone. Construction is currently underway, and the expanded area will introduce three unique geometric art pieces. Converse is celebrating this upgrade with a kickoff event on February 15, featuring competitions and live demos. This development emphasizes the city's dedication to enhancing public spaces for both novice and experienced skaters, reflecting the blend of art, skateboarding, and community engagement.
San Francisco is one of the most skateable cities in the country, and we're especially pleased to be unveiling Alexis's skateable sculptures, which combine public art and skate spot architecture.
Our public spaces are part of what makes San Francisco great, and improving them will be central to our comeback. The expansion of UN Skate Plaza will make this critical space more welcoming.
