"The 50 is the hard stop. Okay, you guys can hold me to that sh*t. 100%. 100%," Miller said following UFC 309, speaking with media outlets including Cageside Press. He is determined to retire after his 50th fight unless an offer of a 'couple million dollars' tempts him for a 51st. He acknowledges that he’s ready to move on, although he has a clear resolve to finish honestly with the sport.
Miller admits that the transition away from fighting is not likely to be an easy one. He's been a professional fighter since 2005 and states, "It's going to be difficult. It's going to be f*cking hard to not get to do this. I've never had a real job. I framed houses with my father, when I was in college I worked at Buffalo Wild Wings...I'm a fighter, that's what I do."
"There's definitely parts of me that are ready to make a commitment to something else," Miller shares, expressing the duality of his readiness to engage in new experiences while grappling with the challenges of leaving a lifelong career. He underscores he's aiming to conclude his journey in fighting thoughtfully, hoping to retain enough energy for future endeavors.
