Typhoon Kong-rey made landfall in Taitung, Taiwan, packing peak winds of nearly 156 mph, and causing significant disruptions including school closures and power outages.
As the largest typhoon to hit Taiwan in 30 years, Kong-rey has forced extensive measures such as highway shut-downs and the cancellation of 277 international flights.
