The assault, which critically injured a man in his 40s, took place on Park Road in Monaghan Tuesday night, prompting an ongoing police investigation.
Three suspects in their 20s, two men and a woman, were arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, and are currently in custody.
