Robin Rowe announces TrapC, a memory-safe fork of C, aiming to eliminate issues like segfaults and memory leaks, designed to be easier to learn than Rust.
"Back in February, the White House announced that we needed to do something about memory safety in C and C++ or change over to Rust," Rowe explained.
Rowe expressed skepticism towards existing efforts by the C and C++ communities to create memory-safe versions, noting the clear lack of a concrete plan.
With TrapC, Rowe seeks to provide a safer alternative for C developers wanting to maintain compatibility while avoiding the complexities of Rust's 'unsafe' keyword.
