A total of 45 people have been charged after dozens of armed gunmen attacked Kosovo police and barricaded themselves in an Orthodox monastery in September last year, setting off an intense daylong gun battle that left three people dead.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused Belgrade of involvement in the incident, stating it was part of a larger plan to annex part of Kosovo, calling for international pressure on Belgrade to surrender remaining gunmen.
Among those charged in absentia is Milan Radoičić, a businessman with links to Serbia's ruling party, implicated in a paramilitary group that allegedly acted under his command.
Belgrade has denied the allegations of state involvement, insisting instead that the armed gunmen acted independently during the attack on Kosovo police.
