After years of delays, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is now open to the public, initially featuring 12 main galleries and approximately 15,000 artifacts. Major highlights include a massive statue of pharaoh Ramses II and unique canopic jars. Spanning 50 hectares, GEM will eventually house over 100,000 items. Designed to reflect Egypt's pyramids, the museum explores the nation's 3,000-year history, culminating in the Roman conquest. Its goal is to provide insightful perspectives on the daily lives of ancient Egyptians and their beliefs.
The main galleries at the GEM offer an extraordinary journey through Egypt's rich history, providing visitors with an in-depth understanding of how one of the world's greatest civilizations lived, ruled, and believed.
Never-before-seen artifacts are displayed at the GEM, including a 36-foot-high statue of Ramses II and ornate sarcophaguses, emphasizing Egypt's cultural treasures.
