Laura Bindloss faced significant challenges while renovating a three-bedroom cottage in Bellport, New York, primarily due to a constrained six-month timeline exacerbated by supply chain delays. The cottage, steeped in history, had not been updated since the 1960s and exhibited dated features like yellowed walls and worn cabinetry. Despite these issues, Laura chose to retain the home's vintage charm, including a lavender bathroom suite and a wooden bar, emphasizing high-impact alterations like paint and lighting while sourcing locally to adhere to the timeline.
The tight six-month timeline was our main hurdle, especially with supply chain delays. We needed the home rental-ready for summer, but materials had 12+ week lead times.
Preserving some of the house's elements, like the lavender bathroom and basement bar, helped keep us on our short timeline while executing high-impact changes.
