Elizabeth Holmes, serving a reduced sentence for fraud related to Theranos, shared her experiences in federal prison. She described her emotional toll when her young children visit and emphasized her commitment to maintaining her innocence. In prison, she works supporting other inmates and engages in self-reflection, including seeing a psychiatrist for PTSD. Despite her difficult circumstances, Holmes expresses hope for the future, focusing on family and advocating for the rights of other incarcerated individuals, especially those separated from their children.
"It's been hell and torture to be here," she said of her time spent at Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas.
"People who have never met me believe so strongly about me. They don't understand who I am," she told People.
"So many of these women don't have anyone, and once they're in there, they're forgotten," she told People.
"I wish that I left, or I had seen the abuse or understood it - and why I didn't - and I'm finding peace with that."
