After several suicides and a temporary closure, the Vessel in Hudson Yards has implemented enhanced safety features and is set to welcome visitors back.
Related Companies closed the Vessel after three suicides in 2021, but reopened it briefly with a $10 fee and new rules, which still did not prevent a tragic accident.
Stephen Ross, the developer of Hudson Yards, reflected on the tragedies, stating, 'We thought we did everything that would really prevent this. It's hard to really fathom how something like that could happen.'
The Vessel has now installed floor-to-ceiling steel mesh barriers designed to be cut-proof and weather-resistant, with a closed top level for enhanced safety.
